National Anthem

I don't know about you guys, but all this stuff about having the march on May 1(Commie day) and now the Spanish version of the National Anthem, I question the timing and the motive? I know I am going to catch a lot of flak from " Latinos" or whatever the term that is used, but I am sorry, our beautiful National Anthem should not sound like this! The National Anthem is beautiful and beloved by all AMERICANS!

This is our National Anthem and the immortal words:

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thru the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the
home of the brave?

God Bless America!!!!!!!!

Update*****

Jose at Cubanology has an excellent and patriotic article concerning our National Anthem.

CB at Killcastro also has a gut wrenching post concerning the National Anthem.

If it is not in its original form, it is not the national anthem. The Spanish version is an anthem of defiance, of non integration, and in my view anti-American. This does nothing more than alianeate the rest of America.

God Bless America, indeed, a nation made stronger not by the cultural confrontations this will cause, but how we all come together to shape a single American identity — which includes singing the Star Spangled Banner in English.

Orlando is right. Nuestro Himno is NOT the national athemn, just as it wouldn't be if someone wrote a version in Spanish or Arabic or Chinese. It has the same tune and some of the same words, but this is not the song we sing to honor the United States of America and its flag. Why someone would do this, I'm still trying to figure out.

I feel very strong about this subject and I don't care if they wanted to sing it in French, Chinese, whatever, it's wrong and doesn't make sense. I wrote an article on it and just finished it. Here it is: http://cubanology.com/Articles/respectandhonor.htm
This country had to go through so much to be free, this futile attempt to create havic will not work. Oh, "Mr Ammonymous" Cuban-Americans speak Spanish fluently also and we have great relations with Mexican-Americans, Central Americans and South Americans also, but we also have great relationships with Americans born here and we respect their National Anthem and now our National Anthem. It seems that you don't like Americans at all, I bet you don't know anything of the history of this country. Jose Reyes (Cubanology.com)

Mr. "Viva La Raza"

Your obviously trying to ruffle some faethers with this post. If you haven't noticed the the title of this blog is "El Cafe Cubano" not "Viva La Raza."
I have posted my feelings that the National Anthem should be sung in ENGLISH and not be changed!!!
That's the beauty of this country, we are free to disagree. America is the land of the FREE and home of the BRAVE. You see in Cuba your sent to prison for disagreeing with the government. Mr "Viva the Race" you see why many of you believe in wearing t-shirts bearing Che-Guevera as a revolutionary hero, but in reality he executed many Cubans and led Cuba down the path of the evil called "communism"

You see Mr. "Viva the Race" I am proud American who loves this country, who believes in FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY. This blog is dedicated to foster FREEDOM in Cuba, and to fight for those who can not or who have passed away.
Now if you disagree with those principles go start your own blog or better yet go to another country to act on your beliefs!

Colombian by birth and AMERICAN by choice. Can you belive what their demands are: "Full Amnesty." It's a slap in the face to all those who really want to be AMERICANS and those who followed the law and had to wait for years.
Alfredo, your right a certian group wants all the sympathy plus all the benifits.

My suggestion: Don't go to Mexico on vacation and boycott everything Mexican.

Another note for Mexico: stop stealing all the ideas from soap operas and shows and claiming that's it's originally from Mexico.

"Betty la Fea" is from Colombia and now there is a cheap imitation on Univision. Come up with something original!!!!!

The Cumbia is from COLOMBIA not Mexico!!!!!!!!
