Friday Fast for all Political Prisoners in Cuba

After a long absence, El Cafe Cubano is going to resume the Friday FAST for ALL the political prisoners in Cuba and hopefully soon a FREE Cuba.


My fellow FREEDOM fighters their have been some misconceptions concerning the fast. First: "Do I have to fast all day?" No! the fast is just being conducted on Friday mornings. You can set your hours and how far you want to take this! El Café Cubano is just calling for a simple gesture! These political prisoners are the true heroes and they are willing to die for FREEDOM! This is a time for unity not division. Is this to much to ask in support of the political prisoners?Political prisoners languish in prison in apartheid Cuba and the media ignores their struggles and cause. We must not forget our brothers and show them signs that we are with them and support them!Let’s show the world, better yet let’s show our brothers and sisters in apartheid Cuba that we are behind them!

why must the Cuban people continue to suffer?

Looking the other way

As a flawed spiritual person, my family and I attended our local Catholic church this past Sunday. We were met with a rousing and touching sermon dealing with on how Catholics attend church every Sunday, but during the week do nothing about Abortion and other moral issues. Very good message indeed, but this past Sunday in “Santiago de Cuba, a city in the Eastern province of Cuba, women pro democracy activists were savagely beaten and verbally attacked in the streets by Cuban State Security agents after they attended mass in the Basilica of “El Cobre”, a Catholic shrine dedicated to “Our Lady of Charity”, where they prayed for the freedom of all Cuban political prisoners and for the freedom of Cuba.”


The Catholic Church silent and looking the other way…….

Dr. Biscet the leading dissident against the apartheid dictator spent years in prison for speaking out against communism and ABORTION! No pro-life groups came to the aid of Dr. Biscet? Thousands of e-mails to Catholic Churches and priest about the Friday fast for political prisoners in Cuba and NOTHING, ZILCH!

Yet Cardinal Jaime Ortega received an award (Eighth Gaudium et Spes Award Honoree ) from the Knights of Columbus back in 2010 and that gets press???



The Archbishop of Miami (Archbishop Wenski) has traveled to Cuba several times and I wonder what his thoughts about the beatings that happened right after mass this past Sunday???

For years El Cafe Cubano and many others have fasted on fridays as a small gesture in honor of ALL those who have sacrificed so much in the struggle for a FREE Cuba! The Friday fast will begin again this Friday!

Concerning the Fast

Alfredo why are you still doing the fast? Does anyone really notice or care? YES!! Our creator notices and many in Cuba know that every Friday, a FAST is done in honor of those who are held as political prisoners in Cuba. Yes, I know their are those who Fast and who get ALL the publicity, like POOR Cocaine Morales on his hunger strike in Bolivia. C'mon folks this about FREEDOM for Cuba and after 50 years we know anything that deals with true FREEDOM for Cuba is totally ignored by the media and the world.

Get this straight, I don't want any publicity, only the truth about those who suffer in Cuba under a brutal dictatorship.

Jorge Luis García Pérez ( “Antúnez”) has been on a hunger strike since February 19, 2009. He was attacked by the commie state security agents in the early hours of March 25th...Yet his strike and the attack are basically ignored by the international media. The Adidas clad dictator writes a "reflection" by his ghost writer and it's ALL over the news, Google and the Drudge report!

A Cuban citizen standing up for his rights and fighting back is not considered news worthy?

To the international media: Get off your asses and report he truth! Why can't you REALLY back the oppressed instead of the oppressors?

Back in the day one of my favorite groups was that of U2. That was before they became so commercialized and so full of themselves. One song: "Gloria" has to be one of my all time favorites for two reasons: it's lyrics and the way that Bono(check out his hair!) sang this song with so much passion.

What does that have to do with Cuba ..Alfredo?

I'll get to that in a minute.. here are the lyrics to the song:

How many of our brothers and sisters died either by execution or as a result of the communist regime? They gave EVERYTHING they had for Our Lord standing up for what was right. All those political prisoners now giving their ALL for what is right!

Can we say the same?

In and out of Cuba it seems that we have splintered off in so many tangents, agendas, and divisiveness...and that's exactly what evil and this regime wants! We get so stuck on topics like the embargo and other issues that we lose sight and FOCUS!

Are we(me included) willing: if I had anything Anything at all I'd give it to you I'd give it to you Gloria...Gloria...

Join the FAST for political prisoners on Friday's and give YOUR ALL. Do it for those who gave their ALL...Do it for those who have lost hope.
