Armando Betancourt arrested

From the Committee to Protect Journalists :

New York, May 30, 2006—The Committee to Protect Journalists condemns the detention of independent Cuban journalist Armando Betancourt who was arrested a week ago while covering the evictions of dozens of families from their homes in the central city of Camagüey, sources told CPJ.

On May 23, authorities forcefully evicted families allegedly occupying homes illegally, according to local sources. Betancourt, a reporter for the news agency Nueva Prensa Cubana in Camagüey, was arrested along with several people who were protesting the evictions, a relative told CPJ. The journalist did not participate in the protests, according to several sources.

At the time of the arrest, Betancourt identified himself as a journalist, sources told CPJ. The journalist handed over his notes before he was pushed into a truck and taken into custody, they said

The journalist is being held at a local police station on the outskirts of Camagüey, CPJ sources said. Authorities confirmed the detention to a family member on May 24, but relatives have not been allowed to visit him, a relative said. Police told Betancourt’s family that the journalist would be charged with aggravated public disturbance and could be sentenced to prison.

“We are outraged by the arrest of our colleague who was arbitrarily detained solely for doing his job,” CPJ Executive Director Ann Cooper said. “We call on Cuban authorities to immediately release Betancourt and the other 24 journalists who are currently imprisoned.”

Excuse me I just choked on my morning cup of Cafe Cubano, how tragic everything said in the video has come to pass. Mr. Sullivan this really big shew has been going on for 47 years!!!!!!!!!

North Korea's concentration camps

The MSM is all over this right? Do bloggers and media not in the so-called MSM have to do all the "real" reporting. You have to check this out, and of course this is happening in a commie country:

From WorldNetDaily:

They call it "the Killing Compound" – the area of Camp 22 in North Korea's largest concentration camp.

Hidden away in the mountains in a remote northeastern corner of North Korea, close to its borders with Russia and China, Camp 22 has been purpose-built for the regime's scientists to have an unlimited number of prisoners on which to experiment

Thousands of men, women and children are trucked to the nearby town of Haengyong. There they wait and, just as Nazi Dr. Josef Mengele did at Auschwitz, the North Korean physicians single out those who will die in gas chambers, or in biological tests, or face death in the human dissection rooms.

Those not selected to go to the Killing Compound at once will be kept in other compounds, surviving on minimum rations, to replace those who have died from inhuman experiments.

They are all branded as enemies of the state, "political victims" who have dared to speak out against President Kim Jong Il, the "Dear Leader" of North Korea.

Their "offenses" may have been to allow a portrait of Kim to get dusty – every home must display one. Or not having given the mandatory bow when passing his thousands of posters that line every street.

Now, as the trial of Saddam Hussein draws to its inevitable close in Baghdad, Western intelligence services are building up their files that will enable Kim and senior members of his regime to be indicted for war crimes.

Just as Saddam cannot escape his role in the war crimes of his regime, so Kim will also face justice.

North Korea is a real terror state and its leader has to face the international criminal court," said Dr Norbert Vollersten, a German doctor who treated victims in North Korea and is now a campaigner for regime change in Pyongyang.

"As a German born after the war, I know too well the guilt of my grandparents' generation for remaining silent," he says. "We must do everything possible to end Kim's regime of terror."

Chilling testimony from those he has helped to escape from North Korea has emerged as a key element in preparing future indictments against Kim and his regime

The most shocking evidence centers on Camp 22. An MI6 file describes it as "larger than Auschwitz or Dachau."

"Hundreds of prisoners die there each week, the victims of biological or chemical experiments to test out [chemical and biological] weapons for North Korea's CBW arsenal," claims an MI6 report.
In one intelligence file is the allegation that newborn babies are taken from their mothers and injected with biological agents or given injections of chemicals that blister the skin, leaving huge keloids, the sores seen on the bodies of Hiroshima victims.

One woman, Lee Sun-Ko, who escaped from North Korea earlier this year, eventually ended up in America. She told her CIA debriefing officer that Camp 22's experimental laboratories are buried underground to avoid aerial reconnaissance and bombing.

Lee Sun-Ko's affidavit includes: "I watched guards select 150 prisoners, mostly women. Some had just given birth. Their babies were ripped from them. Some of the babies were laid face down on the ground and a guard injected them at the top of the spine. Other guards carried the babies away. When the mothers screamed and protested, they were severely beaten."

David Hawk, a former United Nations official who was involved in monitoring Camp 22, said that while reports of baby-killing are often hard to prove, in the cases he has investigated the evidence is plausible.

"I spoke to eight refugees who had first-hand evidence. Their stories tallied," said Hawk.

"Poppycock"

British lawmaker George Galloway is in Cuber and appeared on the state controlled media praising the dictator. Get a load of these stomach turning quotes:

"lion"

"No responsible person in the world believes that Fidel Castro has a personal fortune of $900 million,"

"The Cubans are the only people in the entire world who have a leader who can say that he doesn't possess one dollar to his name,"

El Cafe Cubano's response to George Galloway:

"POPPYCOCK"

"RUBBISH"
Floods in Cuba

Cuba and Venezuela fund Coca leaves

Really? I would of never guessed it, what a shock, alert the MSM, wait a minute they still working on the expose of the dictator's $900 million and his bank accounts?

MSM currently working on these topics after 47 years:

*The dictator is really a communist(They still need several years on this)

*Cuba is a Apartheid country(Still investigating even though the hotel they stayed in Cuba would not allow Cubans)

*Eusebio Penalver the longest- serving black political prisoner and a true hero( MSM will not do because the lack of reggae songs in honor of him and because he was anti-communist)

*Executions actually happened and there are actual political prisoners(MSM spokesperson mentioned that there is not enough evidence even though thousands have been documented, books have been written, survivors have lived to tell, but more evidence is needed!)

*** More topics to come, but it will take another 47 years to investigate!

Why is the MSM not all over this? Hey most of the leg work has been done, so stop defending the dictator and forget your obvious bias and spite for Cuban exiles, the point is the dictator has bilked billions from Apartheid Cuba. So much for the 700 pesos a month!

Independent Journalist denounces reprisals against his family

From La Nueva Cuba:

Carlos Serpa Maceira, independent journalist with the Agency LUX-INFO-PRESS and Bureau Chief of the Cuba Miami News Bridge denounced in Havana that the government is taking reprisals against his family because of his work as an alternative journalist.

"Last May 11th, I received a telephone from call from my wife Marielena Arredondo, where she told me that electricity services in our home were cut off 15 days ago and have not been reinstated to date, but the other 80 homes around ours have no such problems", stated Serpa.

The Cuba Miami News Bridge Bureau was able to confirm that this is not the first time his family is victim of reprisals by the goverment, that every time Mrs. Arredondo Rivero goes to the offices of the Popular Power to complain they tell her they cannot help her due to her husband's counter evolutionary activities.

"With these actions the government has not taken into consideration that my wife has problems with her eye sight and that my 13 year old daughter Daylin has a frail health. I will continue accusing the Goverment until they can prove otherwise".

The home of journalist's Carlos Serpa Maceira is located in the rural community "Escuela de Cabo", Demajagua Town, 23 km from Nueva Gerona, Capital of Pinar del Rio, his home is headquarters the Cuba Miami News Bridge Bureau, the "Julio Tang Texier" cultural Civic Project and the "Ernest Heminway" Independent Library.

The attack on FREEDOM fighters

Fellow FREEDOM fighter Jose, at Cubanology, has written an article that describes the tactics that the dictator is using and how they are unleashing contaminated e-mails against FREEDOM fighting websites.

Jose says it best here:

"This is Castro's worse nightmare, the "Unity" among Cubans, we are aware of these hackers but we are not going to retaliate, we don't need to. We have the upper hand because we are 100% righteous, we are not preaching any fake ideals to the world like Castro does, we are communicating the "Truth" about the "True Situation" in Cuba, now and for the last 47 years. We are strong supporters of human rights, freedom and justice for all, that's the only way to live a normal life. These are the necessary fundamentals of life that we are given when we are born, so when they are taken away from us, then we are being manipulated and this is how the communist system works."

A call for resignation!

You have to watch this video that was posted at Enrique's Blog: Abajo Fidel/Down with Castro. What better for apartheid Cuba than for the dictator to resign on Cuba's Independence day. The evidence is clear and overwhelming, so a resignation is in place!

Everyone a call for resignation! MSM are you going to catch the wave or stay with the crap about 140 years old?

Resignation!
Resignation!

The real scoop about the revolution

The excellent website The Real Cuba has the scoop concerning who really was behind the revolution. Beware all of you romantic commies, this is the real scoop, not the romantic crap about this being the poor against the the rich. You see the dictator stole from everyone including the rich who financed his revolution.
A promise is a promise!

Here at El Cafe Cubano frustration was at a high level this week! The viscious attacks continue in e-mail form and I am wondering "Is it worth it?" A resounding "Yes" because I made a special promise or vow if you will in honor of someone special to me.
I want to thank those who continually support me and continue the fight! A FREEDOM fighter died last week and he spent almost 30 years in prison standing up to the dictator. We need to stand up for these true heroes and spread the truth and to bring FREEDOM to apartheid Cuba.

A true hero dies

Who was the longest- serving black political prisoner? No, it's not Nelson Mandela, it was Eusebio Penalver! This true hero died today. Most people have no clue on his bravery and his heroics:

From La Nueva Cuba:

Eusebio Penalver is the stuff of which movie heroes are made. Eusebio was the world’s longest-serving black political prisoner of the last century, and in the history of the world. He is a black Cuban, holed up and tortured in Castro's jails longer than Nelson Mandela languished in South Africa's. He was bloodied in his fight with Castro-style Communism but unbowed after 30 years in its dungeons. He scorned any "re-education" by his jailers. He knew it was his jailers who needed the education. He refused to wear the uniform of a common criminal. He knew who should wear this too. He stood defiant through almost 30 years of hell in Castro's prisons.
Pope meets with Mini-me

The Pope gave Mini-me his concerns about the situation in Venezuela and the situation with the Catholic Church in Venezuela.

Now hold on to your chairs my freedom loving brethren for these humdingers from Mini-me:

"Our Bolivarian revolution is very Christian, and I have a friend who isn't Christian but lately has said he is a Christian in the social aspect: His name is Fidel Castro," Chavez said Wednesday evening after arriving in Italy.

Chavez often says Christ was a socialist and a revolutionary. He also regularly quotes from the Bible, particularly the passage that says it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven.

Mini-me to visit the Pope

I can hear the crickets in the background, I can hear a pin drop with all the news beforehand about Mini-me visiting the Pope today! You sneaky commies, could it be that you did not want the opposition to have time to say their side of the story? Hey, how did these guys in Italy know beforehand and have posters of you, but not the Pope?
Comedy relief directly from apartheid Cuba

Coming to a improv near you soon! Wait a minute hold the cell phone, sorry can't hold the cell phone, Cubans can not have cell phones only tourist. Sorry, this comedian can not perform at a improv near you, Cubans are not allowed to travel freely!

So without further adieu:

A comedian who can not travel freely

A comedian who can not use the internet freely

A comedian who can not own a cell phone

A comedian not allowed in hotels(Only tourist)

So please agents from David Letterman, The Improv, Univision, Oprah, Dateline, Nightline, CNN, and the comedy store do not call him while he is doing his apartheid tour!

Useless Nothing

Now we have Cuber and China on the U.(Useless) N.(Nothing) Human Rights Council. The "New Man" is probably estatic over this election, and also estatic about the opportunity to continue to spread evil through out the world.

First of all a question to all those who turn a blind eye to all the atrocities:

Why do you turn away at all the atrocities committed in Cuba?

Is it your hatred of the United States is so hardening that you stay silent in order not to give the U.S. any credence?

The " New Man" is seeking domination of the world and imposing the belief in "Man." God is the almighty and it is written that Good will triumph over evil. My plea to all those countries, journalist, and people who turn a blind eye to the atrocities in Cuba: Stop being a Pontius Pilate and washing your hands of the situation. Cuba will rise again from the dead and be a prosperous and a fruitful nation.

I implore our Blessed Virgin Mary that Cuba and the United States come into your arms and recite the

MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you, O virgin of virgins, my mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O mother of the Word Incarnate! Despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer them. AMEN.

Health of dissident worsens

From Religion en Revolucion:

By Stefan J. Bos

The health of a leading Christian Cuban prisoner of conscience has "significantly worsened," amid abuse inside the detention facility where at least one person was killed in recent days, his wife said Monday, April 24.

Rebeca Rodriguez Sauto said that during last week's visit to, Kilo 7 Prison in the province of Camaguey she found that health condition of her husband, Dr. Alfredo Pulido Lopez, seriously deteriorated. She said he is now at least "20 pounds under what he weighed when he was incarcerated in 2003" and stressed she "had never seen" her husband "so depressed and psychologically distraught."

She quoted him as saying that his condition was "related to...a lot of aggression among the prisoners. A few days before [the visit] one prisoner had killed another," and there are fears of similar attacks against dissidents in the prison.

"We are constantly under inspection. They call those of us that are political prisoners "counter-revolutionaries" and threaten us like common criminals," Dr. Pulido reportedly told his wife.

CHRISTIANS DETAINED.

Dr. Pulido was one of 75 prisoners, including Christians, detained in a massive government crackdown in March 2003 on dissidents demanding more religious and political freedom. He was tried summarily on April 2003, and sentenced to 14 years in prison for "acts against the independence and the territorial integrity of the Cuban State".

There have been also reported attacks against evangelical Christians in recent months, including Reverend Carlos Lamelas, an evangelical pastor who has been jailed since February 20 for allegedly aiding refugees seeking to emigrate illegally from the Communist island.

Church observers say Lamelas was targeted for harassment because he challenged the government on religious rights issues while serving as national president of his church.

He reportedly told his wife, Uramis, last month at the Villa Marista Detention Center in Havana, that he was “pretty discouraged” because the legal case is not moving forward.

INDEPENDENT CHURCHES

Human rights activists have expressed concern that Fidel Castro is cracking down on growing independent churches and organizations deemed dangerous for the survival of his Communist government. This also impacts living conditions of prisoners of conscience suggested Rebeca Rodriguez Sauto, with her husband as an example

"Chronic bronchitis and a lack of air also affect Dr. Pulido's health, and recently, dark bruises of an unknown origin have appeared on his skin..."

He reportedly told his wife that because of "the serious illnesses" from which he suffers, authorities should have granted him a medical parole some time ago." However, Dr. Pulido said they refuse to release him as his "convictions are firm, and I make them quite clear."

He reportedly told his wife that because of "the serious illnesses" from which he suffers, authorities should have granted him a medical parole some time ago." However, Dr. Pulido said they refuse to release him as his "convictions are firm, and I make them quite clear."

He does not want to ask for a medical parole "since he is innocent" adding, "All the Cuban authorities really have to give is freedom," his wife quoted him as saying.

DENTIST EXPELLED

Dr. Pulido, 46, practiced dentistry for 22 years until 1998 when he was expelled from his clinic for linking himself to the dissident movement through the Christian Liberation Movement, dissidents said.

In 2001, he began to work as an independent journalist in Camagüey and was eventually detained on March 18, 2003, and sentenced in what critics described as "a summary trial" to 14 years in prison.

Investigators say he is confined to a barrack with 100 common prisoners, many of whom are condemned for murder, in Kilo 7 Prison in Camagüey. Human rights groups have urged the international community to pressure Cuban government to free Dr. Alfredo Pulido Lopez who they say is imprisoned for exercising fundamental freedoms.

Cuban leader Castro has strongly denied human rights abuses and says there are no "dissidents" on his island. He has said the imprisoned activists are "mercenaries of the United States" seeking to overthrow his government.
What?

China and Cuba elected to new UN Human Rights Council? What a joke, the biggest offenders of human rights and here they are members! This proves that the U.N. is a useless organization!

MATANZAS, Cuba, May 5 (Hugo Araña / www.cubanet.org) - Posters with the word CHANGE in Spanish appeared May 1 in the southern town of Caracusey.

The posters, which measured 40 by 40 inches, were placed on a hillside leading into the town.

As soon as authorities became away of the posters, they were removed, but not before those who passed by saw them. The word CAMBIO is often used in Cuba by those wishing a regime change.

Commie Day

Now that commie day is winding down let's not forget all the atrocities that have been committed in the name of communism. Via Val at Babalu, he has a link to a site that list the atrocities of communism.

The great Cuban writer, Guillermo Cabrera Infante, said it best: "The price of socialism is slavery, brutality, and death-all in the name of man."
